Lucky Stitch FAQs

PRODUCTS AND MATERIALS

What yarn do you use?

I use Superfine Lambswool spun in Scotland, it is Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) and dyed using environmentally friendly dyes.

How soft are your neckerchiefs?

The high quality lambswool has very fine fibres which makes the finished knitted scarves incredibly soft and comfortable to wear next to the skin.

What sizes are available?

There are 9 different styles, each with a different shape and size.

Are all your neckerchiefs one-of-a-kind?

I make every scarf by hand, in small batches of each colour.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I was originally inspired by the icons of old Hollywood, I also have an interest in vintage clothing, accessories and interiors. Many of the colour combinations are inspired by nature.

How long does each neckerchief take to make?

Each scarf takes a varying time to knit, steam, wash and finish. This is one of the reasons they have different prices.

CARE & WEAR

How do I wash my neckerchief?

Wool doesn't need to be washed unless it's dirty. It's recommend the scarves are dry-cleaned, but they can be carefully washed by hand in cool water. Never machine wash or tumble dry, always dry flat and away from direct heat.

How do I store my neckerchief to keep its shape?

Store your scarf flat in a bag or box, or roll up - carefully keeping the shape. Occasionally steam using a low heat iron on the reverse side.

How do I wear a neckerchief?

There are many ways to wear the different styles. You can loosely tie, knot, or use a scarf clip. Check the luckystichbrighton instagram for styling ideas.

ORDERING & CUSTOMISATION

Do you take custom or commission orders?

I work in small batches as part of the process, so I don’t offer bespoke commissions. You can get in touch to ask about a particular colour you’d like to see.

Do you offer gift wrapping or personalised messages?

Each scarf is wrapped in a glassine bag with a sticker and so the packaging is ready for gifting. Please let me know if it's a gift, as I’m happy to include a message for you.

Can I buy a neckerchief as a gift and ask you to post it to someone else?

Of course! Just include all the gift details and I’ll do the rest.

I've changed my mind - can you swap this scarf for a different one?

It’s best to re-order the scarf you’d like, and send the original back for a refund.

See refund policy for more details

INTERNATIONAL SALES

Do you ship outside the UK?

At present I only send within the UK.

Do you ship to the USA, Europe, or Australia?

I don’t ship internationally, but this may change in the future.

LUCKY STITCH

Are your neckerchiefs handmade by you personally?

Yes, I knit each scarf by hand on my vintage knitting machine.

Do you work with other knitters or employ staff?

No – it’s all me.

Do you offer internships or work experience?

Unfortunately I’m not in a position to offer internships or work experience.

Do you sell at markets or craft fairs, or only online?

Yes, I sell at a few Markets (mainly in the Autumn), and twice a year at Brighton: Artist Open House’s. There are also occasional Pop-up Shops, as well as online.

SUSTAINABILITY & ETHICS

Do you use sustainable or ethically sourced materials?

Wool is a circular, sustainable material - it biodegrades naturally.

The Scottish spun wool is RWS certified, which means high levels of animal welfare, and mulesling free. The dyes used are environmentally friendly and processed using the nearby Loch water.

How do you minimise waste in your making process?

Each scarf is shaped on the machine with minimal waste - just a few threads.

Are your packaging materials eco-friendly?

I use recycled or recyclable packaging materials. The scarves are packed into glassine bags which are moisture resistant, great to store your scarves in, and can be recycled like normal paper.

WHOLESALE & STOCKISTS

Can I stock your neckerchiefs in my shop?

Unfortunately as a one woman operation I’m not able to wholesale at present.

Do you have any stockists?

Occasionally I stock my scarves in Pop-up shops.
